About the tutor.

I am Nina Tarpley, and am an American Russian-language speaker. Some of my best memories learning Russian were my early years in beginning courses. There are things I noted in my mind and notebooks while learning that I found indispensable in making progress, and other things I have now noted as a more advanced speaker that I wish I had known in the early language learning years–things that would have helped ease & clarify the process. I hope to share those things with students, helping them to take part in the joy of the language.

I began learning Russian in university, and studied it for 3 years there, reaching the Advanced classes, and afterward studied in the Indiana University Immersive Russian Language program. I majored in Honors Russian Language and Culture, and have studied Russian culture and history in addition to language. I have also worked on translation projects from Russian into English.
